Hu-Friedy Expands EverEdge 2.0 Line with Sickle Scaler Designs
EverEdge® 2.0 scientifically-proven to be sharpest, longest lasting hand scaling instrumentation
CHICAGO, Ill. – September 30, 2016 – Hu-Friedy, a global leader in the manufacturing of dental instruments and products, today announced the addition of the Sickle Scaler designs to its line of EverEdge 2.0 hand instruments designed to help clinicians achieve the best clinical outcomes.
Leveraging decades of instrument making experience, Hu-Friedy developed EverEdge 2.0 using a proprietary heat treatment process and enhanced finishing techniques. The optimized steel of EverEdge 2.0 has superior edge retention and wear characteristics that will last the entire life of the instrument. Since it’s not a superficial coating, these characteristics cannot be removed through use or sharpening. EverEdge 2.0 scalers can be resharpened at any point to extend their life and value.
Sickle scalers, designed for moderate to heavy deposit removal on tooth surfaces, are available for both anterior and posterior applications. This prominent design is most often used to remove supragingival or subgingival calculus and features either straight or curved blades.
The combination of the Sickle scaler designs with the optimized steel of EverEdge 2.0, which was introduced earlier this year, blends unique design with modern technology to help practitioners achieve optimal clinical results…

DCI Forges Partnership with America’s Dentists Care Foundation Missions of Mercy Program
DCI partners with America’s Dentists Care Foundation to supply replacement dental parts needed to help provide oral health care to underserved populations
NEWBERG, Ore. — October 4, 2016 – DCI, a family owned company for two generations, has announced a new partnership with America’s Dentists Care Foundation, the charitable organization who facilitates Mission of Mercy free oral health care events for the underserved. Since 2000, ADCF Mission of Mercy events have helped more than 222,000 patients and provided $142 million in free oral health care.
Recently ADCF lost a trailer containing mobile dental equipment to an accident and fire in East St. Louis. The ADCF Mission of Mercy operations utilizes only two 100 unit trailers to serve missions across the United States. According to Gerry Murphy, ADCF Program Manager, “Fortunately, ADCF has managed to form new relationships and strengthen old relationships because of this mishap. Among the new relationships to transpire, DCI has agreed to step up in a big way. Donating over $22,000 in dental parts alone will go a long way to helping ADCF replace all that was lost back on the side of I-70.” Murphy added, “With DCI’s rapid response and delivery, ADCF has managed to get back on the road to recovery in a short amount of time. ADCF appreciates the gracious donation and looks forward to an ongoing partnership with DCI.”
In addition to this donation, DCI and ADCF have formed a partnership whereby DCI will provide the organization with all of the dental replacement parts needed to keep equipment in working order to facilitate the delivery of care through the Mission of Mercy program. John Spencer, CEO, said, “Since DCI started over 30 years ago, one of our guiding principles has always been to provide dental care for those in need. So, when we got the call about the accident, it was natural to jump in to help get the ADCF back up and running. It’s not just a one-time donation. We’re honored to continue to support America’s Dentists Care Foundation with the parts they need to provide care to the underserved through the Mission of Mercy program.”

Looking for a Few Good Dental Labs
Liquid FSI, Inc. has developed a cloud-based (SaaS) suite of “self-directed” tools designed to help dental laboratories improve their business processes. The tools include an Electronic Invoice Presentation and Payment Platform (Liquid EIPP™) that integrates easily into labs’ current accounting systems and provides self-directed customer invoice management to labs and their accounting firms.
I’m looking for a few dental labs who can help me by taking a look at the platform in development and offering some feedback. Basically, take a look around the beta platform and tell us what you think. If you’d like to participate in a 30 minute web demonstration, please let me know via my contact page or email to email@example.com. Thank you!
